Confident Communication Training for Teams - the V.O.I.C.E Programme
Your team is brilliant. Are they communicating like it?
V.O.I.C.E · Visible · Outstanding · Influential · Confident · Effective
V.O.I.C.E is a practical communication and confidence programme for teams as it enables capable people to peak up, get heard, share their ideas, solve problems and ultimately build the careers they deserve, instead of staying quiet and staying overlooked.
Trusted by teams at

Let me guess…
You’ve got people on your team who are genuinely talented. They work hard. They know their stuff. And yet…
- They go quiet in meetings — even when they clearly have something to say
- Their emails are a bit… a lot. Or worse, too short to make sense
- They do brilliant work that nobody outside their immediate team ever hears about
- They say yes to everything (including things they absolutely should not say yes to)
- They’d rather crawl under a table than present to a senior audience
- They avoid the difficult conversation until it becomes a much bigger difficult situation
Sound familiar? Don’t worry — you’re not alone, and neither are they. This is one of the most common challenges I hear from HR and L&D leaders, and it has absolutely nothing to do with how capable your people are.
Communication confidence is a skill, not a personality trait. Which means every single person on your team can learn it.
Here's what it actually costs when people can't communicate with confidence
(And no, I’m not about to hit you with a scary statistic about lost productivity — although those do exist and they are alarming.)
What I’ll tell you instead is what I see in the organisations I work with, week in and week out:
For the individual
- Talented people plateau — not because they lack ability, but because nobody can see what they’re capable of
- Promotions go to the person who communicates their value clearly, not necessarily the one who delivers the most
- Staying quiet in the meeting costs more than it saves — and they know it, which makes it worse
- The dread before a presentation or a difficult conversation takes up more headspace than the thing itself
For your organisation
- You lose good people who felt stuck, invisible, or undervalued — not because the work wasn’t right for them, but because nobody helped them communicate their way forward
- Your best ideas die in people’s heads because speaking up felt too risky
- Tension that could have been resolved in one honest conversation quietly compounds into a team dynamic problem
- Meetings that should take 30 minutes take 90 — and still produce no clear decision
A team of 20 losing just 30 minutes a week to unclear communication costs your business in the region of £11,000 a year which is more than the cost of the full V.O.I.C.E programme.

V.O.I.C.E is a practical, 6-module programme for your entire organisation from junior leads right up to board level leadership. It gives your people the communication skills to speak up with confidence, make their work visible, and handle the moments that matter most without the dread.
The thread running through every module is career courage and visibility – not self-promotion (nobody wants to feel like they’re bragging) This leads to a natural result of communicating your thinking, your work, and your value with clarity and confidence.
This isn’t a theory programme. There’s no death-by-PowerPoint, no terrifying roleplay, and no worksheets that get filed away and forgotten. Every session is built around real skills, real scenarios, and one thing participants can do differently the very next day.
The programme is available as:
- A full 6-week cohort journey of one half-day session per week, with real-work practice between sessions
- Standalone half-day modules which are fully self-contained, targeted at specific challenges
In practice: building communication confidence across a mixed-level team
Professional services · team workshop programme
The challenge: A team of twelve including several high-performing individuals who consistently held back in meetings, rarely challenged decisions, and struggled to communicate the impact of their work to senior stakeholders. Their manager recognised the pattern but lacked a structured way to address it. Previous training had focused on presentation skills but the underlying confidence and communication habits had never been directly tackled.
The approach: The team completed a tailored V.O.I.C.E programme across six modules, delivered as a mix of 90-minute sessions and half-day workshops, beginning with a self-awareness diagnostic that gave participants and their manager a clear picture of where the gaps actually sat.
What changed: By the end of the programme, contributions in team meetings had increased noticeably; including from individuals who had previously stayed silent. Two participants used the programme frameworks to navigate conversations they’d been avoiding for months. Their manager reported spending significantly less time re-clarifying briefs and correcting miscommunication. Three team members were subsequently put forward for development opportunities that would previously have passed them by.
This case study is illustrative, based on patterns consistent across Kate’s workshop and programme delivery.
What's Covered
Six half-day modules. Each one practical, progressive, and immediately applicable.
Find Your Voice
Module 1 · Foundation
Because you can’t grow what you can’t see.
- Understand your current communication style — and the gap between how you intend to come across and how people actually experience you
- Recognise and flex across different communication styles (spoiler: not everyone processes the world the way you do)
- Get a handle on what your body language and presence are saying before you’ve opened your mouth
- Build a personal development plan you’ll actually use — not just for this programme but for the career ahead
The Art of Being Heard
Module 2 · Core Skills
Being the smartest person in the room means nothing if nobody hears what you’re saying.
- Why capable people get consistently overlooked — and what to do about it
- Active and adaptive listening: the counterintuitive skill that makes people take you more seriously
- How to structure a contribution so it lands clearly and confidently (no more thinking of the perfect thing to say on the walk home)
- Practical techniques for the moment just before you speak — when hesitancy tends to win
Clarity, Courage & Candour
Module 3 · Core Skills
Vague communication keeps talented people invisible. This module fixes that.
- Assertiveness in practice — the difference between being assertive, aggressive, and passive (and how to land firmly in the first camp)
- How to say no professionally, set boundaries without guilt, and advocate for yourself without it becoming a thing
- Emails, Slack messages, and documents that are clear, concise, and actually get read
- Giving and receiving feedback as a professional skill — because it doesn’t have to feel like an attack
Make Your Work Visible
Module 4 · Applied
Doing great work in silence is a career trap. Let’s get you out of it.
- The visibility gap — why excellent work often goes unrecognised, and why it’s not your fault but is your responsibility to fix
- How to communicate the impact of what you do clearly and confidently — without feeling like you’re blowing your own trumpet
- Tailoring how you communicate to different people: managers, peers, cross-functional colleagues (they all need something slightly different)
- Building professional relationships that open doors — not through networking small talk, but through deliberate, genuine communication
Navigate the Hard Moments
Module 5 · Applied
Most people avoid difficult conversations. This module gives you a reason not to.
- Why avoidance feels safer in the short term and costs so much more in the long term (for you and everyone around you)
- A practical framework for opening and navigating a difficult conversation without it escalating or going sideways
- How to disagree professionally, push back with confidence, and hold your ground without losing the relationship
- Managing up — communicating with your manager and senior stakeholders with clarity, confidence, and the right level of assertiveness
Own the Room
Module 6 · Advanced
Presentations. Pitches. Updates to senior people. These are the moments careers accelerate or stall. Let’s make them work for your team.
- What ‘owning the room’ actually means — and why it is absolutely learnable (yes, even for the person who would currently rather send an email)
- How to structure and deliver a compelling presentation or pitch to any audience, at any level
- Managing nerves so they work for you rather than against you (a bit of adrenaline is actually useful — we just need to point it in the right direction)
- Building a professional communication brand: how to be consistently clear, credible, and memorable
Flexible enough to fit your organisation. Robust enough to actually work.
I know you’ve got a lot on. The last thing you need is a programme that creates more admin than it solves problems. Confident Communication is designed to be as straightforward as possible to run — for you and for your participants.
The Full Programme — 6 Weeks
One half-day session per week for six weeks. A cohort of up to 16 participants builds through the programme together, with structured real-work practice between each session.
- Builds a shared communication language across the cohort — which creates a culture shift, not just individual skill-building
- Between-session practice keeps learning live and applied, not just something that happened in a room on a Tuesday
- By Week 6, every participant has applied every framework in their actual working context
- Ends with a capstone session: each person delivers a short presentation with peer and facilitator feedback. It’s brilliant. People always surprise themselves.
- Delivered in person, virtually, or hybrid — whatever works best for your team
Standalone Modules — Pick What You Need
Any module available as a targeted half-day on its own. Fully self-contained — no prior programme experience needed. Same quality, same frameworks, just focused on one specific challenge.
- You’ve spotted a specific gap? Target it directly without committing to the full programme
- Mix and match modules to build a bespoke development pathway for your team
- Includes a one-page reference card and a real-work practice assignment — so learning doesn’t stay in the room
- Great for new starters, targeted interventions, or dipping a toe in before deciding to run the full programme
- Also works as a brilliant standalone L&D event — something genuinely useful that doesn’t feel like a box-tick
What it costs
Most organisations start with a single module or a pilot cohort before committing to the full programme. Here’s a guide:
| What It Is | Investment | |
|---|---|---|
| Standalone Session | 90 minutes, one module, focused on a specific challenge | From £600 online · £700 in person |
| Half-day workshop | Deeper delivery of a single module, with extended practice | From £950 online · £1,200 in person |
| Full VOICE programme | All 6 modules, delivered as a cohort over 6–12 weeks | From £8,000 online · £10,000 in person |
Exact pricing depends on group size, format, and level of tailoring all of which will be confirmed on your scoping call.

Jamie Sleigh, Indeloy
One framework. Every module. Sticks long after the programme ends.
Every module in V.O.I.C.E is built around Kate’s bespoke framework: C.L.E.A.R.
Context · Listen · Economy · Adapt · Respond
It’s introduced in Week 1 and returned to in every session after that, so it becomes something participants can reach for long after the programme ends: writing an email, navigating a difficult conversation, or standing up to present to the board. The full framework and how each principle plays out in practice is covered in your VOICE brochure.
What changes in your business
The changes that follow a well-run V.O.I.C.E programme are visible across teams and organisations, not just individual confidence.
| Result | Impact |
|---|---|
| Decision speed | Meetings produce clearer outcomes because contributions are better structured and aligned |
| Reduced rework | Greater precision in writing, meetings and cross-team communication reduces misunderstandings |
| Retention | Employees who feel heard and can communicate their value report higher engagement |
| Manager effectiveness | Managers equipped to have difficult conversations before they escalate |
| Talent visibility | High-performing individuals who previously went unrecognised become visible to leadership |
| Cross-team collaboration | Clearer, more direct communication across functions reduces friction and duplicated effort |
A few things people always ask me
Do we need to buy the full programme, or can we start with one module?
You can absolutely start with one module — and many organisations do. Every module is fully self-contained and delivers real, standalone value. That said, if you’re looking for a genuine culture shift rather than a targeted fix, the full 6-week programme is where the magic happens.
How is this different from communication or presentation skills training we’ve done before?
Most communication training focuses on technique: how to structure a presentation, how to write a clearer email. V.O.I.C.E goes deeper: it addresses the underlying habits behind each individual’s communication while building the confidence to actually use the techniques. Participants leave not just knowing what to do differently, but having already done it, in a real work context, during the programme itself.
How many people can join a cohort?
Up to 16 per cohort. Big enough for great group energy. Small enough that everyone actually gets to practise, not just observe.
Is it delivered in person or virtually?
Both and I mean that properly, not as a compromise. The programme was designed to work brilliantly in either format. Hybrid is also an option if your team is spread across locations.
Can the content be tailored to our industry or team?
Yes. The core frameworks are consistent (that’s what makes them reusable), but the examples, scenarios, and practice activities can be tailored to your context. If your team has a specific communication challenge, I’d rather design around it than pretend it doesn’t exist.
What if our people have very mixed confidence levels?
That’s completely normal and actually one of the things the programme handles well. The design starts with self-awareness (Module 1) so everyone begins from their own starting point. The more experienced participants deepen their skills; the less confident ones build the foundations. Everyone gets something real from it.
How soon can we get started?
Ideally 4–6 weeks from our first conversation to the first session as this gives enough time to scope, confirm, communicate to participants, and do any light customisation. If you’ve got something more urgent in mind, let’s talk as I’ll always try to find a way to make it work.
